Last Day of School

The last day of school was bittersweet this year. My kids' elementary school is closing and they will go to a brand new building next school year. Our community is going from 3 schools down to 2 so the teachers and students all got split up between the new schools. Most of my favorite teachers and most of Karen's friends are at the other school. So it was a sad ending to a good era at Red Bird Elementary. I'm especially sad because one of the reasons we didn't move to Wisconsin was to reduce upheaval in our children's lives but they are going through it anyway.
Last day of Kindergarten, 2nd grade and 5th grade
Natalie is skipping 8th grade and starting high school in the fall. She is the only one in her grade in our small ward--the only one not starting Seminary and will be the only one left her senior year. And the next kids close to her in age are 15 months-2 years younger than her. She is bright enough and almost old enough (October birthday) to be a grade ahead. So we talked to her principal and the district people and they had no problem with it. She had to take a test which she aced and then it was a done deal. So now she is starting high school with 6 other freshman. She's grown up so much this year.
Last day of 7th (and 8th grade)
